Director Sharifi composed both a diary and a form of civil archive by collecting records from before the revolution. She uses 8mm footage of family celebrations from the counrty’s forgotten secular past, a time when everyone were freely dressed, feasted and drank, played music and danced without the fear of police raids, contrasting it with the current suppression. According to her, the public sphere in Iran was so different than her life at home that she describes it as another planet; as an adult, she reminds us of her own planet through the archives.
