Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece Ran is based on a story of greed, power lust and revenge. When the landlord High Lord Hidetora Ichimonji decides to step aside and divide his reign among his three sons Taro, Jiro and Saburo, all he wants is to spend his remaining years as a respected guest in their castles. While two sons praise their father, the third son tries to warn him that the three brothers will never be able to act together and that their greed for power will divide them. Lord Hidetora is enraged by his youngest son's warning and is banished by his father. But just as he warned, his other two sons soon begin plotting to take everything from their father, including his title.
