The film tells the adventure of cat Vincent and mouse Maurice, who escaped the flood that hit their home by taking shelter in an old piano, and ended up in a museum. The story begins with a flood in the castle on the island where a docile cat named Vincent lives. When the castle floods, Vincent is rescued by the clever mouse Maurice, a small rodent living on the island. Maurice the mouse and Vincent the cat hide in an ancient and old piano, which was washed away by the sea due to the flood. An antique piano floating with the current in the sea is found by a group of sailors and delivered to the museum. Hidden inside the piano, Vincent and Maurice find themselves in a huge museum containing the world's most famous works and paintings. Here Vincent encounters a group of cats who call themselves the guardians of the museum. These cats protect the paintings and works in the museum by trying to prevent them from being eaten by rodents. The worst part is that Maurice the mouse loves to gnaw on old paintings. While Vincent dreams of gaining the friendship and trust of the museum's protective cats, he must also try to hide Maurice, the mouse who saved his life, from the cat group.
